Today's Turkey Advisory Board Members Share The Ways in Which Turkey Loves YOU
Lauren Tulig, RDN, CD, Dietitian Manager, Skogen's Festival Foods says: I love that turkey is packed with lean protein and flavor. Its flavor complements any cuisine – Mediterranean, Mexican, Cajun, Thai – you name it! And, it’s sure to keep you fueled and satisfied until your next meal.
Shari Steinbach, MS, RD says: I do strength training exercises 2-3 times per week and turkey provides a great low calorie source of protein which is required to build and maintain the muscle mass I work so hard to achieve. This is especially important as I age! I have learned that it’s vitally important to get adequate protein at all meals and turkey provides delicious options that can be easily incorporated into all my meals from breakfast to dinner. The lean protein from turkey also fits nicely into the Mediterranean style dietary pattern I try to follow. It’s a perfect complement to whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy choices.
Karen Buch, RDN, LDN, Owner, Nutrition Connections LLC says: I love to cook with turkey because it is both convenient and lean. My favorite go-to is 99% lean ground turkey. I use it to make turkey tacos, turkey meatballs, turkey & bean chili, turkey lasagna and to replace the ground beef called for in other recipes. From a taste standpoint, ground turkey browns nicely to develop its own delicious flavor while serving as a neutral canvas so I can add my own unique sauces and seasonings to create appetizing meals that earn my family’s stamp of approval every time.
